Peru — Inversionista (investor) migratory status
InvestmentResidence for a foreigner who establishes, develops or manages a lawful investment of at least S/ 500,000 in Peru, granted for 365 days at a time and extendable.
What it actually requires
Migraciones' page for a change to the inversionista quality asks for proof of an investment of S/ 500,000 (about EUR 120,000) or more, made by international transfer in a SINGLE act of disbursement through a bank or financial institution supervised by the Superintendencia de Banca y Seguros. After 3 consecutive years as an investor, permanent residence additionally requires S/ 55,000 of annual gross income, taxes and EsSalud contributions up to date, and 10 jobs for Peruvians on the last 3 months' payroll. Close family can apply separately for the familiar residente quality, which Migraciones opens to relatives of a foreign resident whose residence is current.

Peru — Trabajador (worker) migratory status
WorkResidence for a foreigner doing paid work in Peru under an employment, administrative or services contract of at least a year, granted for 365 days at a time and extendable.
What it actually requires
Migraciones' page for a change to the trabajador residente quality asks for an employment contract of at least 1 year, no more than 30 calendar days old and approved by the labour authority (a contract signed in Peru needs a migratory status that allowed the applicant to sign it); or, in public service, the contract or administrative resolution showing a term of at least 1 year; or, for an independent worker, a services contract of at least 1 year. The hiring entity must have an active RUC, and its legal representative files a sworn declaration naming them (with the registry entry of their power to hire where they are not the general manager). Also passport, INTERPOL ficha no more than 6 months old, and a document showing no judicial, criminal or police record covering the 5 years before arrival. A contract with a probation period or shorter than a year goes to the temporary worker quality instead. Personal procedure, no proxy; fee S/ 161.40 (about EUR 39); result within 30 working days. Permanence 365 days, extendable. After 3 consecutive years it leads to permanent residence. Close family can apply separately for the familiar residente quality, which Migraciones opens to relatives of a foreign resident whose residence is current. Any limit Decreto Legislativo 689 places on how many foreign staff an employer may hire is not stated on this page and was not verified here.

Peru — Familiar residente (resident family member)
FamilyResidence for a foreign resident with a proven family link to a Peruvian or to a foreign resident of Peru - up to 2 years at a time for family of Peruvians, 1 year for family of foreign residents.
What it actually requires
Migraciones' page for a change to the familiar residente quality: the applicant must already be a foreign resident, be in Peru when applying, and prove a family link, as Decreto Legislativo 1350 defines it, with a Peruvian, who must hold a valid DNI, or with a foreign national whose residence is current and records up to date. The page's document list covers a spouse and the minor children of a foreign spouse or de facto partner; it is not a full list of the qualifying relatives. A marriage certificate registered in Peru must be no more than 90 calendar days old; one registered abroad or at a Peruvian consulate must be legalised by the Foreign Ministry and no more than 180 days old. Also passport, and no police, criminal or judicial record. Fee S/ 161.40 (about EUR 39); result within 30 working days. The quality allows dependent or independent paid work, and can be extended for the same period. A foreigner married to a Peruvian and resident in Peru in that condition for at least 2 years may acquire Peruvian nationality by option under Ley 26574 art. 4.2 (Ley 32421 art. 19 will ask for 4 years of marriage once in force). Peru applies jus soli, so a child born in Peru is Peruvian.

What it actually requires
Migraciones' page for a change to the formacion residente quality: the applicant must already be a foreign resident inside Peru. Personal procedure, no proxy; fee S/ 161.40 (about EUR 39); result within 30 working days. The page links a separate extraordinary work-permit procedure for students. Formacion is not among the four qualities that lead to permanent residence. Lawful residence counts toward the 2 consecutive years Ley 26574 art. 3 requires for naturalisation, which also requires regularly exercising a profession, art, trade or business. Close family can apply separately for the familiar residente quality, which Migraciones opens to relatives of a foreign resident whose residence is current.

Peru — Permanent residence
WorkPermanent residence after 3 consecutive years in Peru as a worker, investor, researcher or member of a religious community.
What it actually requires
Migraciones' page for a change to the permanente residente quality names four qualities that lead to it: 3 consecutive years in Peru as a trabajador, inversionista, investigador or member of a religious community. During those years, no absence of more than 183 consecutive calendar days in any 365 without Migraciones' authorisation to stay abroad. Workers, investors and researchers show at least S/ 55,000 of annual gross income for the previous fiscal year; investors must also be up to date on taxes and EsSalud contributions and show 10 jobs for Peruvians on the last 3 months' payroll; a religious worker files a sworn declaration of economic support. Also passport, and a document showing no judicial, criminal or police record covering the 5 years before arrival. Fee S/ 162.50 (about EUR 40); result within 30 working days. Since INDECOPI Resolucion 0628-2024-SEL, published on 26 November 2024, a proxy may file. Naturalisation needs 2 consecutive years of lawful residence, fewer than the 3 this route needs. Close family can apply separately for the familiar residente quality, which Migraciones opens to relatives of a foreign resident whose residence is current.

Peru — Naturalisation as a Peruvian
Residence then citizenshipTwo consecutive years of lawful residence is the minimum before a foreign national may apply for Peruvian nationality by naturalisation.
What it actually requires
Under Ley 26574 art. 3, a foreign national must have resided lawfully in Peru for at least 2 CONSECUTIVE years, regularly exercise a profession, art, trade or business, and have no criminal record, good conduct and moral solvency; Migraciones' page adds that the applicant must be over 18 and hold a current carne de extranjeria or Foreign Ministry identity card with valid residence. It asks for economic solvency of at least 10 UIT or S/ 55,000 of annual gross income according to the migratory quality held (a religious worker files a sworn declaration of support instead), an INTERPOL ficha no more than 6 months old, a sworn health declaration, a birth certificate legalised or apostilled, the documents of the current quality, and an evaluation examination. INDECOPI declared the INTERPOL ficha, the sworn health declaration and the former S/ 530.60 fee illegal bureaucratic barriers in 2023; a court injunction of 30 January 2024 suspended that as to the ficha and the health declaration, which Migraciones has required again since 14 June 2024 - a reminder that the documentary set here has been volatile. The current fee, S/ 301.50 (about EUR 72), is payable. Decision within at most 30 working days, a term suspended during the stages DS 004-97-IN sets; a granted applicant swears an oath at a ceremony and takes the title to RENIEC for a DNI. Ley 26574 art. 11 contemplates naturalised Peruvians holding dual nationality, without the rights reserved to Peruvians by birth; whether the other nationality survives is that country's own law.

Peru — Calidad migratoria nomada digital (not yet operational)
Remote workPeru created a digital nomad migratory quality by Decreto Legislativo 1582, but Migraciones said it would be granted only once a regulation and a procedure were published - no archived source shows that has happened.
What it actually requires
Migraciones' announcement of 20 November 2023: the nomada digital quality, added to the Migration Law by Decreto Legislativo 1582, is for foreigners who work remotely for companies domiciled outside Peru, gives a stay of up to 365 days with the possibility of extension, and will be granted only once the resolution regulating it is published and its procedure is set in the TUPA, Migraciones' register of administrative procedures. No income threshold or fee was announced. Neither that regulation nor a TUPA procedure is among the sources archived for this review, so do NOT treat this as an available route: check with Migraciones whether the procedure has opened before relying on it.

Peru — Residencia permanente
WorkPermanent residence after three consecutive years, from four named qualities only - and most movers can apply for Peruvian nationality sooner.
What it actually requires
Requires 3 consecutive years in Peru holding the trabajador, inversionista, investigador or religioso quality - the four the page names; others such as formacion and familiar are not among them. Absences are capped at 183 consecutive calendar days in any 365 without authorisation. Workers, investors and researchers need minimum economic solvency of S/ 55,000 in annual gross income in the prior fiscal year; a religious worker files a sworn declaration of economic support instead. Investors must additionally show 10 jobs for Peruvians on the last three months' payroll and be current on taxes and social health insurance. Fee S/ 162.50 (about EUR 40). Proxies are now admitted following a 2024 competition-authority ruling. Note the oddity: because naturalisation requires only 2 years of legal residence, most movers can apply for a Peruvian passport before they reach permanent residence, which makes this category less important in Peru than elsewhere in the region. Close family can apply separately for the familiar residente quality, which Migraciones opens to relatives of a foreign resident whose residence is current.
