Moving to Denmark

The 4 routes into Denmark we have on record, and what each one actually requires. This is published information, not an assessment of your case.

Denmark — Pay Limit Scheme (Belobsordningen)

Work
What it actually requires

Job offer with annual salary >= DKK 552,000 (2026; adjusted each 1 Jan); Supplementary Pay Limit Scheme at DKK 446,000 (2026) with extra conditions; salary must match Danish norms, be paid to a Danish bank account (within 180 days), >= 30 hrs/week; no education/field requirement. Permit is tied to the job (typically up to 4 years, extendable); it does NOT itself confer PR - Danish permanent residence is a separate track (generally 8 years, or 4 with supplementary integration requirements - verify). (PR: not directly; separate PR track (8 yrs, or 4 with supplementary requirements - verify))

Denmark — Naturalisation by act of Parliament (indfodsret)

Residence then citizenship
What it actually requires

~9 years continuous residence (less for refugees/Nordics/spouses); PERMANENT residence held >= 2 years at time of inclusion in a naturalisation bill; Prove i Dansk 3 language test; citizenship test (indfodsretsproven); self-sufficiency (no public benefits in look-back period); clean record; constitution ceremony. Citizenship is granted BY STATUTE (your name goes into a bill Parliament votes on twice a year) - one of Europe's strictest processes.

Denmark also has a citizenship-by-descent route, which is a different kind of claim: it can mean you already hold the right rather than qualifying for one.
